JagCall vs Retell AI: 2026 Comparison

Honest, side-by-side comparison for SMBs and ops teams choosing between a bundled no-code voice platform and a pay-as-you-go developer platform. Retell is often cheaper per minute; the question is what you have to build and manage to get there.

Quick verdict

The one-paragraph version

Both platforms ship modern AI voice. Retell is pure pay-as-you-go and, for teams that tune the LLM, voice, and add-ons, it is likely the cheaper way to buy minutes. JagCall is the right call for SMBs and operators who want calls, texts, a number, calendar booking, contacts, and a no-code builder in one monthly plan that a non-engineer can run. JagCall’s pitch is the bundle and simplicity, not the lowest cost per minute.

Worked example

Cost at 300, 1,000, and 3,000 minutes

AI voice minutes only. The Retell range runs from a lean stack to a premium one; the last column assumes Retell’s recommended LLM at about $0.16/min. JagCall figures assume one Personal user at 300 minutes and one Business user at 1,000 and 3,000 (3,000 is $149 plus 2,000 minutes of overage at $0.12).

VolumeJagCallRetell (range)Retell (recommended LLM)
300 min/mo$49 (Personal, 1 user)$21 – $93~ $48
1,000 min/mo$149 (Pro)$70 – $310~ $160
3,000 min/mo$389 (Pro + overage)$210 – $930~ $480

Read it honestly: on minutes alone Retell is likely cheaper, and much cheaper if you tune the stack. What the JagCall price also covers is included US/Canada calls and texts, the phone number, calendar booking, contacts, and recording and transcription. On Retell, the number is $2/mo, add-ons are metered per minute, and texting and CRM are not part of the rate. These are estimates, not quotes.

Decision guide

When to pick which

Pick JagCall if

  • You want calls, texts, calendar, and contacts in one monthly plan
  • You don’t have an engineering team, or don’t want to spend their time here
  • Predictable monthly billing matters more than squeezing per-minute cost
  • A non-engineer needs to build and edit the agent day to day

Pick Retell if

  • You have engineers who will tune the LLM, voice, and add-ons for the lowest cost per minute
  • You want a metered model with the first 20 concurrent calls free
  • You already run your own CRM and texting stack and only need the voice layer

Migration

Retell → JagCall in five steps

01

Export the prompt and tools

Pull your existing agent prompt and any custom functions from Retell. Save the call recordings you want for QA.

02

Rebuild in the flow builder

Recreate the prompt, escalation rules, and any branching in JagCall’s no-code builder.

03

Wire integrations

Connect your calendar (Google, Cal.com, or Calendly) and contacts. Map any custom functions to a webhook or Zapier.

04

Pilot in parallel

Run JagCall on a forwarded number while Retell still handles your main line. Listen to recordings side by side for a few days.

05

Cut over

Port the number or update the SIP route, then turn off the old agent.

Real workflow

Standing up a booking agent

The same job, expressed in each platform’s native idiom. The destination is identical; the path differs.

JagCall (bundled, no-code)

  1. 1. Build the flow in the visual editor.
  2. 2. Connect Google Calendar, Cal.com, or Calendly once.
  3. 3. Pick a number; calls and texts are already in your plan.
  4. 4. Go live and review recordings in the dashboard.

Retell (pay-as-you-go)

  1. 1. Choose the LLM and voice, which sets your per-minute rate.
  2. 2. Pick add-ons such as knowledge base or guardrails, each metered.
  3. 3. Add a number ($2/mo) and connect telephony ($0.015/min).
  4. 4. Handle CRM and texting in your own stack.

FAQ

JagCall vs Retell FAQs

For many SMB use cases, yes. The mental model is the same (an LLM-driven voice agent on top of streaming STT and TTS), but JagCall ships the no-code builder, telephony, SMS, calendar, and contacts as one product instead of a usage meter you assemble around. Teams that have already tuned Retell’s LLM, voice, and add-on settings for low cost per minute will not see a cheaper per-minute rate on JagCall, so the move makes sense when operational simplicity matters more than the last cent.

Retell is pay-as-you-go from $0 with $10 in free credits. Voice runs $0.07 to $0.31 per minute all-in, built from infrastructure at $0.055/min, TTS at $0.015 to $0.040/min, telephony at $0.015/min, and an LLM. Add-ons are extra: knowledge base $0.005/min, denoising and guardrails $0.005/min each, PII removal $0.01/min, AI QA $0.10/min after 100 free minutes, numbers at $2/month. JagCall Personal is $49 per user/month with 300 AI minutes and about $0.15/min after that, Business is $149 per user/month with 1,000 AI minutes and about $0.12/min after that, plus included US/Canada calls and texts. See the worked example on this page for 300, 1,000, and 3,000 minutes.

Per minute, usually yes, especially if you tune the LLM and voice choices. Retell with its recommended LLM lands around $0.16/min, and its low end is lower still. JagCall’s pitch is the bundle (calls, texts, number, calendar, contacts, and the builder in one monthly price) and no-code operation, not the cheapest minute. If you have engineers who will manage providers and add-ons, Retell is likely the cheaper option at volume.

Retell has a flow builder, which we treat as a partial no-code experience. We have not confirmed how deep it goes for production workflows, so check Retell’s docs against your use case. JagCall’s builder is a visual flow editor designed to be operated by a non-engineer end to end.

JagCall includes a contacts CRM and integrates with Workiz, Frubix, and Zapier. It does not have a native HubSpot or Salesforce integration today. Calendar booking works with Google Calendar, Cal.com, and Calendly. Retell does not list a built-in CRM, and while it supports calendar booking we have not confirmed the details, so verify the integrations you need on Retell’s site.

JagCall supports cold transfer only today. Retell offers call transfer as well; we have not confirmed which transfer types it supports. On HIPAA, JagCall does not offer a BAA today and lists HIPAA as planned on its Security page. We have not confirmed Retell’s HIPAA terms, so ask Retell directly. If a BAA is a hard requirement now, JagCall is not yet an option.

Yes. JagCall supports outbound campaigns, and Retell supports batch calls at $0.005 per dial on top of the per-minute rate. Neither page here is a substitute for testing your own dialing volume, compliance requirements, and answer-rate goals.

For an SMB with one or two agents, plan on a few hours: rebuild the prompt and any branching in JagCall’s flow builder, connect calendar and contacts, pilot on a forwarded number, then cut over. Larger Retell setups with several custom functions need extra time to map each one to a JagCall integration or a webhook.

Pick Retell if you have engineers, want to tune the LLM, voice, and add-ons for the lowest cost per minute, or want to scale concurrency past 20 lines on a metered model. Pick JagCall if you are an SMB or ops team that wants calls, texts, calendar, and contacts bundled, predictable monthly billing, and a builder a non-engineer can operate.
